Chanel has become the first luxury fashion house in the world to stop using exotic animal skins, like snake, crocodile, lizard and stingray. The company’s head of fashion, Bruno Pavlovksy, said it had become harder to source such pelts ethically. He also included fur in the list, of which Chanel uses little. Python skin bags have reportedly been taken down from the Chanel site, but Pavlovsky said it would take a while for existing products to leave their shops. The company would now focus developing leather and other material from “agri-food” industries, he said.
香奈儿成为世界首个停止使用蛇、鳄鱼、蜥蜴、魔鬼鱼等珍稀动物皮的奢侈时尚品牌。该公司的时尚主管布鲁诺•帕甫洛夫斯基说，如今以道德上可接受的方式获取这些珍稀动物的皮越来越难。他还将动物毛也划入停用清单，不过香奈儿本来就很少用动物毛来制造产品。据报道，香奈儿官网上的蟒皮包已下架，但帕甫洛夫斯基称，现有皮制品要完全下架还需要一段时间。他说，香奈儿今后将专注于研发人造皮革和来自农产品行业的其他原材料。
